Meet the REFS

Sam Ratanarat (she/her)
ratsam@mit.edu

Sam is a second-year M.Arch student from the UK. She was raised in London, studied Fine Art in Dublin, and lived in New York City for several years, working in sculpture fabrication and art management. An aspiring climate optimist, Sam re-entered the world of academia to engage with architectural methods and materials that foreground ecological integrity and responsibility, and to build cool stuff. She enjoys cycling, cooking, life drawing and scuba diving, believes in prioritizing time for self care, and loves to sleep.

Lina Bondarenko (she/her)
linabo@mit.edu

Lina is a first year SMArchS student from Kyiv, Ukraine, and San Francisco, CA. After working as an architect and teaching design at a public high school, she now thinks a lot about infrastructure on steep slopes and temporal happenings as mediums of cultural care and environmental connection. On weekends, she loves cycling to Walden Pond and meandering through farmers’ markets. Lina is currently growing beans, choreographing a solar eclipse ritual, and performing with two MIT dance troupes.
